MSMA Target 6 Plus Herbicide
MSMA Target 6 Plus Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide that eliminates weeds, like crabgrass, on golf courses and other professional turfs with no additional surfactants or wetting agents necessary.
04/10/26
MSMA Target 6 Plus Herbicide, manufactured by Luxembourg-Pamol, is an effective combination of post-emergent herbicide and surfactant for selective control of the toughest weeds, like sandburs in cotton and golf courses.
This product contains MSMA, which stands for monosodium methanearsonate, a contact herbicide formulated as a liquid concentrate for easy mixing and application. After application, it is quickly taken up by broadleaf weeds and grass leaves and stems, resulting in death within 10 days.
MSMA Target 6 Plus is primarily used for weed control in turfgrass areas such as lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, and non-crop areas. It is a fast and easy-to-use selective herbicide that eliminates hard-to-control weeds, like nutsedge and eliminates the need for continuous reapplications with no more than 2 applications per season.
This herbicide is effective against various grassy and broadleaf weeds commonly found in turfgrass areas, including crabgrass, goosegrass, dandelions, clover, chickweed, and foxtail.
Tools Needed
Target 6 Plus can be applied with a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much you need for your application. To do this, measure the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply (length X width = square footage). For acreage, divide the square footage by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). For general applications, 1.5 oz of MSMA in 1 gallon of water should cover 1,000 square feet. So, if you have a 5,000 square-foot area you want to treat, you would mix 7.5oz of MSMA in 5 gallons of water and spray evenly over the area. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Now that you have determined how much product you need for your targeted area, create your solution. Fill your spray tank halfway with the required amount of water. Next, add in your measured amount of MSMA, and then fill your sprayer the rest of the way with water to mix thoroughly.
- Step 3: When applying to turf areas, mow the grass to a height of one to one and a half inches before application. Apply the solution to the desired location with a low-pressure, fan-spray setting for uniform coverage. Make uniform and thorough applications to targeted weeds to the point of wet. Do not water for at least 24 hours after application. When spraying on highway rights of way, spray to the point of runoff. Plants should die within 2 to 4 days. If not, reapply after 10 days to retreat those particularly stubborn weeds.
Where to Use
Target 6 Plus can be used on cotton fields, sod farms, golf courses, and highway rights-of-way.
Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass, carpetgrass, centipede grass, or dichondra.
When to Use
Target 6 Plus works best when weeds are young and actively growing. If weeds are under stress, such as during drought or cool temperatures, you may need to apply a higher dosage to get them to die out. Make applications on calm days when wind speeds are between 2 and 10 mph and temperatures are between 65 degrees and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
Safety Information
MSMA Target 6 Plus is safe to use around pets and children if applied according to product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
After treatment, keep pets and children away from the treated area until the product has dried.
Do not feed foliage treated with this product to livestock or graze-treated areas.
Special Considerations
Chlorosis, a yellowing of the leaves, may occur for MSMA broadcast applications. This is normal, and the desirable turf grasses should regain their standard color in 7 to 14 days.
Following treatment, slight burning and reddish discoloration of cotton foliage may occasionally be seen; however, cotton plants will develop normally, and yield will not be affected.
MSMA Target 6 Plus cannot be used on residential turf.
