Triclopyr 4ec Herbicide

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer, manufactured by Alligare, is a systemic selective herbicide used to eliminate trees, brush and woody plants from various types of landscapes. It is ideally used to thin out forests, clear grass pastures, rangelands, and public highways.

This emulsifiable concentrate works systemically, absorbing through the leaves and roots of the plants and interfering with their growth. When trees or broadleaf weeds are obstructing the view of roads, slowing down a construction project, or crowding a residential area, applying Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer can be a useful solution.

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer successfully controls thick post-emergent vegetation with little or no impact on commercial turf, when applied according to the product label instructions. With its powerful active ingredient Triclopyr BEE- 61.6%, Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer becomes the most economical way to reclaim your pasture and more from brush and weeds.

Tools Needed

To use Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer, you will need a skid sprayer to cover large areas. For smaller jobs, you can use a hand-held pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer you need by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply together (length X width = square footage). For acerage applications, you will need to take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). Spot treatments on commercial turf should be done at a rate of 3/8 to 3/4 fl. oz. of Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer per 1 to 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For woody plants as a foliage treatment, use 4 to 8 quarts of product per 5 gallons of water per acre. Do not apply more than 2 quarts of product per acre or 1.5 fluid ounces per 1000 square feet of Alligare Triclopyr 4 in a single application.
• Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water, then add measured amount of Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer. Pour remaining amount of water and shake until solution is evenly mixed.
• Step 3: Apply the mixed solution to the target weed or brush. Use a fan spray nozzle setting to get an even coating on the target plant. Apply to the roots of the plant as well as the leaves.

Where to Use

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer can be used in forests, on permanent grass pastures, rangelands, conservation reserve programs (CRP acres) (including non-irrigation ditch banks and fence rows within these areas), right-of-ways, non-crop areas (including industrial manufacturing and storage sites), fence rows, industrial sites and non-irrigation ditch banks, around farm buildings, and rights-of-way such as electrical power lines, communication lines, pipelines, roadsides, and railroads.

It may also be applied on perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue ornamental turf (such as sod farms, commercial turf, and golf courses).

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer use on these sites may include application to grazed areas as well as for the establishment and maintenance of wildlife openings.

Do not apply to bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass, unless turf injury can be tolerated.

When to Use

Apply Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer during calm days, when rain is not in the immediate forecast.

Withdraw livestock from grazing treated grass or consumption of treated hay at least 3 days before slaughter. This restriction applies to grazing during the season following treatment or hay harvested during the season following treatment.

Safety Information

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Except for lactating dairy animals, there are no grazing restrictions following application of this product. Do not allow lactating dairy animals to graze treated areas until the next growing season following application of this product. Do not harvest hay for 14 days after application of Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer.

Do not enter treated areas until the product has completely dried.

Special Considerations

Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer can be mixed with various other chemicals such as surfactants like Alligare 90 that increase the effectiveness of the product. When Triclopyr 4 Brush Killer is mixed with water, it creates an emulsion that will require constant agitation.

Alternatively, you can mix Triclopyr with oil instead of water. Oil will help carry the product to the roots faster than water. Using an indicator dye, like Vision Pro Max, with Triclopyr will be helpful to keep track of where you have sprayed and to avoid over-application.
