Precor IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) is manufactured by Zoecon. It contains the active ingredient (S)-methoprene to prevent flea eggs and flea larvae from becoming adults, which prevents them from being able to reproduce. Precor IGR disables the life cycle of the fleas in order to get ahead in the flea control process for up to 7 months.

To manage heavy flea infestations, Precor IGR is the ideal product to introduce to a flea treatment program. Precor IGR will not kill adult fleas, so it should be used alongside an approved adulticide for total control.

Tools Needed

To apply Precor IGR, a handheld pump sprayer is needed to make indoor applications.

How to Use

Applying Precor IGR

  • Step 1: Determine how much Precor IGR will need to be mixed for the application site by first calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, measure (in feet) the area length and the area width and then multiply the two values (length x width = square footage). The label states to use 1 oz. of Precor in a gallon of water to treat 1500 sq. ft. of surface area. So for example, if you have a 3,000 sq. ft. area to treat, you would need to mix 2 oz. of Precor in 2 gallons of water.
  • Step 2: When making applications with a handheld pump sprayer, fill the spray tank with 1/2 gallon of water. Add 1 ounce of Precor IGR to the spray tank and then fill the tank with another 1/2 gallon of water for a complete 1-gallon mixture. Shake the spray tank well to mix thoroughly.
  • Step 3: Spray the solution on carpets, pet bedding, and other areas where flea activity has been seen. Allow areas to dry before entering.

Where to Use

Precor IGR is for indoor use and can be applied to all areas where fleas live such as carpets, rugs, pet bedding, and furniture.

Do not apply Precor IGR to pets or animals. Precor IGR is not effective for use in outdoor areas.

When to Use

Apply Precor IGR as a preventative to stop flea eggs and larvae from becoming adult fleas, ultimately stopping the life cycle process.
