Optimate CS from Control Solutions is a microencapsulated insecticide which contains the active ingredient Gamma-Cyhalothrin, a powerful insect killing chemical. Optimate CS has a controlled release formula which allows the product to keep killing for up to three months after application.
Tools Needed
To use Optimate CS you will need either a hose end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For small household jobs, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a 4-gallon backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Optimate CS Insecticide you need to mix by first calculating the square footage of the area you will be treating. You can do this by measuring and multiplying the area length times width (length x width = square footage). Optimate can be applied at different dilution ratios depending on the pest being treated. 0.0075% concentration would be 0.16 fl. oz. in a gallon of water or 0.5 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water. A 0.015% concentration would be 0.33 fl. oz. in 1 gallon of water or 1 to 2 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water. A 0.03% concentration is 0.65 fl. oz. in 1 gallon of water or 2.0 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water. All of these rates would treat 1,000 sq. ft. So for example, if you have 3,000 sq.ft. to treat and wanted to use the 0.0065% ratio, you would need to mix 0.5 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water..
- Step 2:Fill your sprayer halfway with the required amount of water. Add the appropriate measured amount of Optimate CS based on your calculations. Fill the sprayer with the remaining amount of water and agitate the sprayer. Once well mixed, you are ready to spray.
- Step 3: Apply the Optimate CS insecticide as a perimeter barrier treatment around your home and spray in cracks and crevices.
- Step 4: Reapply Optimate CS every 21 days as needed for continuous control of your target pest.
Where to Use
Optimate CS can be used indoors and outdoors to control a wide range of pest. Focus your treatments around foundations of buildings, surface cracks, windows, doors, eaves, patios, garages, trash and dumpster areas, and other harborage and entry points. For perimeter pest control, spray Optimate CS Insecticide 3 feet up the foundation and 10 feet away from the foundation.
When to Use
You will want to use Optimate CS when pests activity is high. For most areas of the country, this is between the spring and summer months. Apply the product quarterly for year-round control.
Safety Information
Optimate CS is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Be sure to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying. Optimate CS should be stored safely out of reach of children or pets and after applying everyone should be kept off the treated area until it is dry.
Special Considerations
Because Optimate CS is a microencapsulated insecticide formulation, it will need to be constantly agitated in the sprayer during application for best results.
