Mother Earth Granular Scatter Bait, manufactured by BASF, is a versatile and powerful broad-spectrum granular insecticide for treating pests found outside of residential and commercial structures.

The active ingredient, boric acid, is mined directly from the earth while lethal to pests, has the toxicity of ordinary table salt to humans.

This versatile product can be used both as a perimeter barrier outside the home and as crack and crevice treatment inside the home using a duster applicator.

Tools Needed

To use Mother Earth Granular Scatter Bait you will need the help of a broadcast spreader. You could use a push spreader, duster, or hand spreader based on your preference.

How to Use:

Step 1: Inspect and identify the problem pest on your turf and then measure the area you wish to be treated to determine the application rate for treatment. For a typical turfgrass application the rate of MotherEarth Granular Scatter Bait is 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet or 90 pounds per acre.
Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the granules into the spreader. The label should provide you with the proper calibration recommendation.
Step 3: Uniformly spread the insecticide granules across your lawn, this may take at least two walkthroughs for even coverage.o use this product as a perimeter barrier around homes or structures to treat for ants, apply in a band of at least 2 to 4 feet wide at a rate of 4 to 6 ounces per 100 square feet.
Step 4: To use this product as crack and crevice treatment inside homes using a dust applicator (click here to browse our duster selection) apply about 2 to 6 puffs per foot in places that can include behind appliances in kitchens and bathrooms, around voids in plumbing, under sinks, inside electrical outlets etc.

Where to Use

Mother Earth Granular Scatter Bait can be applied on residential and business turf, golf courses, sod farms, agricultural landscapes, ornamentals, gardens and many other listed areas where turf insects are causing damage. Apply this product around the perimeter of your home, including around trees, stumps, firewood piles, sidewalks, patios, and other areas where insects may harbor.

When to Use

Use Mother Earth Granular Scatter Bait when there are insects like ants, mole crickets or slugs showing up around your property. The prime time turf insects show up are in the early spring between March and April.

Safety Information

The product is safe to use as directed on the label. Make sure to have on the proper PPE when applying the product to your lawn and keep pets and children away from the treated area so they don't pick up granules.

Special Considerations

For best results, mow your yard to its normal height a day or two before applying the granules.
