Monterey Weed Whacker is a high-level post-emergent herbicide concentrate that provides protection in lawns from troublesome weeds like clover, chicory, and kochia in 3-4 weeks.
Tools Needed
A hose-end sprayer, handheld trigger sprayer bottle, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or sprinkling can may be used for application.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Monterey Weed Whacker to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. For cool-seasoned grasses, use 3 teaspoons of Monterey Weed Whacker in 2 quarts of water per 100 sq. ft. or 8-13 fl. oz. of product per 6 gallons of water per 2,500 sq. ft. of lawn. For warm-seasoned grasses, apply 3 teaspoons of product in 4 quarts of water applied to 200 sq. ft. or 4 to 6 1/2 oz. of product in 6 gallons of water per 2,500 sq. ft. For spot treatments, use 3 teaspoons of product into an empty quart container with trigger sprayer. Then add 30 fluid ounces of tap water. Do not apply more than 2 broadcast applications per treatment site per year. Refer the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the mixing container with half the amount of water, add measured amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the tank lid and shake until dissolved.
- Step 3: Spray entire lawn, wetting weeds and lawn grasses. Just not to the point of runoff. Repeat in about 4 weeks if necessary.
Where to Use
Only treat residential ornamental lawns and turf.
Cool-seasoned grasses - such as Bluegrass, Fescue, and Rye may be treated.
Warm-seasoned grass - such as St. Augustine, Bahia, common Bermuda, Centipede, Zoysia, also for Bent may be treated.
When to Use
Spray this concentrate when weeds are present on turf that is well-established and healthy on days when temperatures are below 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do not apply if rainfall is expected within 48 hours.
Safety Information
Monterey Weed Whacker is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
If lawn needs watering, water thoroughly before application. Do not water for 48 hours after application. Watering will wash off weed killing material.
Do not spray grasses if stressed from heat, drought, etc. Slight turf yellowing should disappear after about 1 week.
