Mojave 70 EG Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide that controls 150 different types of grasses, weeds, and vines to achieve bare ground results.

With the active ingredients imazapyr 7.78% and diuron 62.22%, it will quickly move throughout the plants root system and underground plant tissue to keep unwanted vegetation and weeds from germinating in the future within one application.

Mojave 70 EG Herbicide has a broad window of opportunity to apply from spring to fall and provides residual control for up to 6 months. It is great for clearing land for construction sites, areas where parking lots, and roads will be developed.

Tools Needed

Mojave is mainly used in professional skid sprayers

To apply Mojave 70 EG, a professional skid sprayer is needed for large applications. For small bare ground applications, you can use a backpack sprayer or handheld pump sprayer.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Mojave 70 EG you need by calculating the area size. To do this, measure and multiply the area length times the width to get the square footage, then divide by 43,560 to get the acreage. For large volume applications, Mojave 70 EG is to be applied at a rate of 7 to 19 lbs. per acre in 100 gallons of water with 1 quart of adjuvant. When applying Mojave 70 EG as a spot treatment or crack and crevice spray with the rate is 0.5 to 1 lb. with 0.33 fl. oz. of adjuvant per gallon of water.
  • Step 2: In your sprayer tank, fill your sprayer halfway with the required amount of water. Add the appropriate amount of Mojave based on your calculations and agitate. Add the rest of the required amount of water and agitate the spray tank until the granules have dissolved and the product is well mixed.
  • Step 3: Apply the mixture to cracks and crevices along roadways, parking lots, and other label approved areas for total vegetation control. Do not apply more than 19 pounds of Mojave 70 EG to 1 acre per year.

Where to Use

Mojave 70 EG can be applied to areas that require complete vegetation control leaving the ground bare. Use for application to non-cropland areas such as railroad, utility, pipeline and highway rights-of-way, utility plant sites, petroleum tank farms, pumping installations, fence rows, storage areas, farmyards, and around farm buildings, non-irrigation ditch banks and other similar areas where bare ground is desired. Alligare Mojave 70 EG may also be used for weed control under paved surfaces.

Mojave 70 EG provides residual control in areas treated areas where targeted weeds try to germinate.

Mojave 70 EG cannot be applied to driveways, walkways, tennis courts, residential lawns, turfs, or flowerbeds of any kind.

When to Use

applying herbicide

For the best results for annual weed control, apply Mojave 70 EG either during late pre-emergence to early post-emergence.

For the best result for perennial weed control, Mojave 70 EG has to be applied after the weeds have emerged from the ground, as it will not control perennial weeds during the pre-emergent period.

It is ideal to apply Mojave 70 EG when unwanted vegetation is thriving and healthy so that the herbicide can be quickly absorbed through the vegetation.

Safety Information

Mojave 70 EG is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Mojave 70 EG is not for residential use. Always wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying. Keep people and pets away from the treatment area until the product has completely dried.

Special Considerations

When using Mojave 70 EG as a post-emergent herbicide, a spray adjuvant is needed.

Mojave 70 EG can be tank-mixed with glyphosate, glufosinate-ammonium, or other similar products for increase control. Mixing Mojave 70 EG with 2,4-D or products that have 2,4-D in it may weaken the solution for perennial weed control.

Keith's Pro Tip "When spray drift occurs, desired vegetation can accidentally be damaged or destroyed with Mojave 70 EG. To avoid spray drift, do not make applications during unfavorable weather conditions, adjust spray equipment to control droplet size, and add a drift control product to the tank mix to cause the herbicide to be heavy and stick to targeted plants."
