Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester
04/10/26
Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester, manufactured by VPG, is a post-emergent herbicide that eliminates annual and perennial weeds in commercial ornamental turf and sod-farms.
When used as a post-emergent, Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester works by being absorbed into the weeds by foliar contact.
Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is formulated with a low amount of ester 61.6%, which helps to eliminate those hard-to-kill weeds such as ground ivy or ragweed within 3 to 4 weeks.
Tools Needed
Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester can be applied with a backpack or handheld pump sprayer. To avoid drift during applications, we recommend using a handheld pump sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: First, you will need to determine the square footage of the treatment area in order to calculate how much Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester you will need. To do this, you will need to measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet and then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For spot and broadcast treatments, mix 3/8 to 3/4 oz. of Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the label for specific rates of foliage. When this product is mixed with water it will form an emulsion and not as a solution. Do not use more than 2 quarts per acre or 1.5 fluid ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. of Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester in a single application.
- Step 2: Add about one half of the required amount of water, then add the specified amount of Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester, and pour the remaining amount of water into the sprayer. Close the lid and agitate the sprayer until the emulsion becomes thoroughly mixed. Separation may occur if not continuously agitated.
- Step 3: Once your emulsion is complete, apply Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester to the surface of targeted weeds, but not to the point of run-off. Repeat applications may be made once 4 weeks have passed after first application. Do not water your treated area until 24 hours have passed.
Where to Use
Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is used for weed control in perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue ornamental turf including sod farms, commercial turf, and golf courses.
Do not apply to golf course greens, irrigation systems, ditches, exposed roots of shallow rooted trees and shrubs, bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass, unless turf injury can be tolerated.
When to Use
Use Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester during warm weather, from early spring through fall, when weeds are actively growing and bloomage has not occurred. Newly seeded turf should be mowed 2 or 3 times before being treated.
Safety Information
Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the labels instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Do not allow grazing lactating diary animals to feast in these treated areas until the next growing season. Animals used for slaughter will need to be removed from the area at least 3 days before slaughter.
Special Consideration
While established grasses are tolerant to this product, newly seeded grasses may be injured until well established (as indicated by vigorous growth, tillering and the development of a secondary root system). Do not reseed treated areas for a minimum of three weeks after treatment.
