Hi-Yield Grass Killer
04/09/26
Hi-Yield Grass Killer, manufactured by VPG, is a systemic selective herbicide that provides quick elimination of grassy weeds such as Bermudagrass or Foxtails without injuring flowers, shrubs, trees, and other ornamental foliage.
As a systemic herbicide, the product can be sprayed over the top of desirable plants infested with grassy weeds or as a direct spray to weeds to effectively eliminate the listed weeds within a short period.
For best results, apply Hi-Yield Grass Killer when listed annual and perennial grass weed is up to 1 foot in height. Hi-Yield Grass Killer is a successful product, but can be increased with an addition of a oil concentrate.
Tools Needed
To apply Hi-Yield Grass Killer, you will need to use either a backpack, pump, or hose-end sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Wait to mow your yard several days before application. The height of your weed should be 1 foot before spraying. Determine how much Hi-Yield Grass Killer you need by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the application site in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Hi-Yield Grass Killer can be applied at the rate of 1 oz. of product per gallon of water per 1,800 sq. ft. For a hose-end sprayer application, add 1 oz. of product per 1 oz. of oil concentrate surfactant per 1,800 sq. ft. For the addition of surfactant during broadcast or pump sprayer applications, mix 1 oz. of product plus 1 oz. of oil concentrate surfactant per 1 gallon of water per 1,800 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill your broadcast or pump sprayer, halfway with the required amount of water then add in the appropriate amount of Hi-Yield Grass Killer. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining amount of water and then agitate until well mixed until you are ready to spray. For hose-end sprayer, attach the sprayer to the end of your garden hose and fill it with the measured amount of product and surfactant.
- Step 3: Apply Hi-Yield Grass Killer to areas where unwanted grassy weeds are growing, preferably on a fan-spray setting for backpack or pump sprayers to ensure even application. For areas around sensitive plants, it is recommended to perform a spot treatment with a handheld pump sprayer to avoid spray drift.
Where to Use
Hi-Yield Grass Killer can be used on and around flowers, plant beds, landscapes, evergreens, individual shrubs, trees, fruits, vegetables, ornamental-groundcovers, and bedding plants within residential lawns. Refer to the label to learn which specific vegetables and fruits can be treated with this product.
This product does not control sedge (including Nutsedge or Nutgrass), Annual Bluegrass, or broadleaf weeds. Red Fescue, Chewings Fescue, Hard Fescue, and Dichondra Turfs are also tolerant to this product.
When to Use
Use Hi-Yield Grass Killer during warm-weather when rainfall is predicted within 24 hours after application. Apply this product when grassy weeds are actively growing, not exceeding the minimum of days from application to harvest when used on vegetables and fruits.
Cool weather, drought, and heat stress will slow the activity and results of Hi-Yield Grass Killer.
Safety Information
Hi-Yield Grass Killer is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Special Considerations
This product must not be applied near or on Azaleas (var. Snow), Japanese Privet, Potentilla, Snow in Summer, Red Oak, White Oak and ornamental grass.
Applications on listed fruit and vegetables can only be done with a tank-type sprayer. Second reapplications for these listed fruits and vegetables may be necessary except for peanut, root vegetables, and strawberry.
