Gentrol Point Source IGR discs, manufactured by Zoecon, are an easy to use insect growth regulator for long term control of cockroaches and some pantry pests. Gentrol Point Source comes in disc form rather than in a spray, allowing for easy "set and forget" treatments of high activity areas.
Gentrol Point Source plastic disks do not require roaches and pantry pests to come into contact with it. Instead, the IGR is released and slowly translocated in an area of up to a 75 square feet, making this a great option for treating areas where spraying insecticide is not approved or convenient.
Gentrol Point Source discs contain hydroprene which is a synthetic juvenile hormone imitator used to disrupt the target pest's (namely cockroaches) normal growth pattern so that they're unable to mature into adults. This will also sterilize adult cockroaches so that they can no longer reproduce. If you begin to see cockroaches with crinkled wings after applying Gentrol Point Source, then you will know it is working.
When used in a full cockroach control program, Gentrol Point Source helps stop the endless cycle of reproduction that makes a cockroach infestation so hard to beat.
Tools Needed
To apply Gentrol Point Source IGR discs, you do not need any additional tools as they come ready to use right out of the package.
How to Use
- Step 1: To use Gentrol Point Source, first determine how many Gentrol Point Source disks you need by measuring the square footage of your target areas. To do this, measure and multiply the length and width of the area you wish to treat (length x width = square footage). Gentrol Point Source can cover a range of 75 sq. ft. so depending on the areas and different rooms, you may need multiple.
- Step 2: Gentrol Point Source features a cotton pad housed within a plastic encasement with a small capsule on the side of the disc. This capsule holds the chemical. To activate it, press firmly between the thumb and forefinger on the capsule until a snapping sound is heard. Once you hear a snap, the contents of the Gentrol Point Source capsule have been released into the cotton pad to then be released into the localized treatment area.
- Step 3: The Gentrol Insect Growth Regulator Discs can be placed vertically or horizontally in areas you have seen pest activity, such as in pantries, cabinets, drawers, and around voids. Make sure not to place in areas accessible to children or pets.
Where to Use
Gentrol Point Source IGR discs can be used anywhere, even in sensitive areas where food is stored, including food handling establishments. However, the disk must not be placed on food serving surfaces and should be kept at least 3 feet away from exposed food.
It has a sticky back end when can be placed on walls and in drawers and cabinets and other hard to reach and hard to treat areas.
When to Use
Gentrol Point Source should be used when you have a cockroach infestation in the home. Cockroaches breed and make eggs at an alarming rate so Gentrol Point Source helps to prevent eggs from hatching and a new generation from developing and adding to the infestation. It also helps to make the adults sterile so they can't reproduce.
Safety Information
Gentrol Point Source is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Make sure to wear gloves before applying Gentrol Point Source. Be sure to keep this at a minimum distance of 3 feet from exposed food.
Special Considerations
Gentrol Point Source is sold in increments of 20. It may take a couple of weeks before you begin to see the initial effects of the Gentrol. It is recommended to use Gentrol Point Source alongside an adulticide for faster and more effective control.
