Forbid 4F Ornamental Insecticide Miticide

Forbid 4F, manufactured by Bayer, is a miticide that can be used to control mites that have developed a resistance to other pesticides. Forbid can be sprayed directly to the foliage of plants the mites are targeting to kill them.

Forbid 4F delivers a quick knockdown and residual control of mites and all stages of whiteflies for four to eight weeks. Because Forbid 4F offers a unique mode of action, it will target mites and other listed pests that may build a resistance to other products for effective control.

Tools Needed

To use Forbid 4F you will need either a hose-end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For smaller sized residential treatments, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a 4-gallon backpack sprayer.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Forbid 4F you will need for the application. To do this, you will need to calculate the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the area length times the width (length x width = square footage). To get acres, take the square footage and divide by 43,560. (square footage/43,650 = acreage). The use rate for Forbid 4F is 2 to 6 ml per 5 gallons of spray solution for mites and 3 to 6 mL in 5 gallons of water to treat whiteflies.
• Step 2: Once you have determined how much Forbid 4F you will need, fill your spray tank with halfway full of clean water and then add Forbid 4F according to your calculations. Fill with the other half of water and then agitate the sprayer until the product is well-mixed.
• Step 3: Spray Forbid on infested plants, completely covering foliage. You can use a coarse spray, drench, or broadcast.

Where to Use

Forbid 4F can be used on ornamental plants in and around parks, golf courses, recreational areas, and residential or commercial buildings. It can be applied to shrubs, trees (including non-bearing fruit and nut trees), flowers and foliage plants in outdoor landscapes.

When to Use

For best results, Forbid 4F treatments should be made when the whitefly or mite population begins to build and before a damaging population becomes established.

Safety Information

Forbid 4F is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Be sure to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying. Keep pets and children away from treated outdoors areas until the product has completely dried.

Special Considerations

Avoid excess application that results in runoff from plant foliage. You can apply a surfactant to improve coverage on hard to wet foliage.
