Alligare Diquat Herbicide
05/26/26
Alligare Diquat Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide from Alligare that controls weeds on dry land and in aquatic environments.
It contains 37.3% Diquat Dibromide, which effectively controls submerged, subsurface, and bottom-growing aquatic weeds, as well as land weeds like those in pastures and along fence lines.
This herbicide is highly active and works at low rates, starting at 0.75 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft., offering broad weed control and economical use.
Tools Needed
Use a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or skid sprayer with an adjustable tip nozzle for best results when applying Alligare Diquat.
How to Use

- Step 1: Measure the treatment area's square footage by multiplying length by width for land areas. For aquatic areas, calculate volume by measuring length, width, and depth, then multiply. For ponds, apply 1 to 2 pints of Alligare Diquat per 15 gallons of water per acre. For small land areas, mix 0.75 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft. For example, treat 2,000 sq. ft. with 1.5 fl. oz. of Diquat in 2 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer about one-fourth with water, add the measured herbicide, then add an approved surfactant as directed. Fill the rest with water and mix well.
- Step 3: Using a fan spray nozzle, apply the mixture evenly to target areas until wet but not dripping. Dense or thick weed growths may require repeat treatment within two weeks.
Where to Use

Alligare Diquat can be used on land and in various aquatic settings.
On land, it controls weeds on noncrop or nonplanted farm areas, commercial greenhouses, nurseries, dormant bermudagrass and zoysiagrass turf (nonfood/feed crops), landscape beds, industrial, recreational, commercial, residential, public areas, ornamental seed crops (excluding California), and turf renovation (except commercial sod farms).
Approved aquatic sites include ponds, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, bayous, drainage ditches, canals, streams, rivers, and other slow or still waters.
When to Use
Apply when weeds are actively growing, typically when water temperatures exceed 50°F, usually in spring or early summer. Spray on calm days to avoid drift. Treat weeds before they exceed 6 inches tall; use higher rates for large or dense weeds.
Safety Information
Alligare Diquat is safe for pets and children when used as directed. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment while mixing and applying. Keep people and pets out of treated areas for 24 hours after application.
Special Considerations
Before applying, check with local Fish and Game, State Water Conservation, or Department of Natural Resources authorities to obtain necessary permits or approvals.
