Bifen LP Granules
04/10/26
Bifen LP Granules, made by Control Solutions Inc., contain bifenthrin to control many common pests like fire ants, cockroaches, spiders, fleas, ticks, and crickets in lawns and gardens.
These granules use sand as a carrier, making them ideal for targeting ants (including fire ants), fleas, and chinch bugs damaging lawns. "LP" means "lawn and perimeter," suitable for large turf areas, around building perimeters, and directly on fire ant mounds. They treat lawn grubs and ants within 24 hours of application.
Bifen LP Granules don't act instantly but provide residual control for up to 3 months. They are easy to apply, odorless, and safe for children, pets, and non-target animals. Bifen LP offers the same active ingredient and label as Talstar PL but at a better price.
Tools Needed
Apply Bifen LP Granules using a push or hand spreader. Use a push spreader for large areas and a hand spreader for smaller spots.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure your yard's length and width, multiply to find square footage. The recommended rate is 2.3 pounds per 1,000 sq. ft., adjustable up to 4.6 pounds for heavy infestations. For example, 2,000 sq. ft. needs 4.6 pounds.
- Step 2: Pour the measured granules into your spreader. Calibrate to the lowest setting to prevent overapplication, as the granules resemble sand.
- Step 3: Walk steadily to distribute granules evenly. Water the treated area afterward to activate and help soil penetration. For perimeter barriers, apply a 5-10 foot band around structures. For fire ant mounds, sprinkle 0.5 cup granules per mound and drench with 1-2 gallons of water to push them into tunnels. Effectiveness lasts up to three months. Reapply as needed, not exceeding 200 pounds per year.
Where to Use
Use Bifen LP Granules on lawns, flower gardens and beds, around house perimeters and foundations, mulch beds, fence lines, and decks.
They are also suitable for institutional, public, commercial, and industrial sites, parks, recreation areas, and athletic fields.
When to Use
Apply to control pests on turf, lawns, flowerbeds, and around foundations. It works as a spot treatment on developing ant mounds.
Avoid applying during windy conditions or within 24 hours before heavy rain to prevent drift or wash-off. If rain occurs after treatment, reapplication is possible.
For best results against pests like fire ants, apply on cool days with temperatures between 65 to 80°F, or in early morning or late evening.
Safety Information
Bifen LP Granules are safe for children and pets when used as directed. Always wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) during application.
This product is toxic to aquatic life. Do not apply near water bodies or if rain is expected within 24 hours.
If granules land on paved areas, sweep them back onto treated soil to prevent runoff into waterways or drains.
Special Considerations
Insects may develop resistance to bifenthrin over time. Do not use Bifen LP Granules on golf courses or slopes where granules could wash away with rain or irrigation.
