Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide
Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide efficiently kills a broad-spectrum of nuisance aquatic plants in small waterbodies.
04/09/26
Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by United Phosphorus, is a long-term aquatic habitat management tool that provides season-long control over aquatic weeds.
This ready to use concentrated contact herbicide controls aquatic weeds like coontail and pondweed in a relatively short time frame.
Aquathol K Aquatic herbicide is an excellent contact herbicide choice for aquatic sites facing light to dense weed infestations. Controls weeds in muddy water because it does not bind to organic matter and continues to work in still-water due to its short 12-48 hour residual.
Tools Needed
To apply Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide, you will need to use a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or type of underwater injection equipment.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size and depth of body of water to determine how much Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide you will need. To determine acre-feet volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the waterbody, and then divide by 43,560 (length x width x depth / 43,560 = acre-feet). To treat an entire pond/lake or large water area with slow-moving waters, use between 0.45 to 2.6 gallons of Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide per acre ft for surface and injection applications. To make spot or lake margin treatments in slow-moving waters as a surface or injection application, apply 1.9 to 3.2 gallons of product per acre ft. For ponds and small lakes with little to no outflow, use 1.25 gallons of product per acre ft. Do not apply more than 30 ppm per growing season, not to exceed 5 ppm per application for flowing water used for irrigation of food crops. Do not apply more than a total of 5 ppm within a 7-day interval for flowing water used for irrigation of food crops as well. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide requires no pre-mixing prior to application. Simply pour directly from the product container or fill your application equipment as instructed in its product manual.
- Step 3: Apply Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide directly to the weed above water and directly to the perimeter or in multiple locations around the perimeter of the water body to be treated.
Where to Use
Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide can be used in quiescent, slow moving, and flowing water aquatic sites such as lakes, ponds, or other quiescent water bodies.
Do not use this product in brackish or saltwater.
When to Use
For best results, apply Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide in the early spring when weeds are actively growing with a minimum of 24 hours contact time.
There is no Pre-harvest Interval (PHI) for crops irrigated with treated water.
Safety Information
Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Special Considerations
The drinking water (potable water) restrictions on the Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide label are to ensure that consumption of water by the public is allowed only when the concentration of endothall acid in the water is less than the MCL (Maximum Contamination Level) of 0.1 ppm. Applicators must consider the unique characteristics of the treated waters to assure that endothall acid concentrations in potable drinking water do not exceed 0.1 ppm at the time of consumption.
The drinking water setback distance from functioning potable water intakes in the treated water body must be greater than or equal to 600 feet.
